7 Kinds Of Smoke Competition BBQ Team was created in 2007 by Carter Catering Company's Executive Chef and Owner Phil Carter and his passion for great BBQ. I have gone to battle against some of the greats on the bbq circuit today and have learned a lot on this journey. After years of trial and error with recipes and techniques, I have learned and applied that knowledge to consistantly produce some of the best bbq in the state of California (if not the U.S.). Now I have taught some of the best on the bbq circuit! I now have the unique ability to reduce your learning curve by years!

For the last four years, the team has competed in dozens of competitions and has won an equal amount of awards including 1st Place Ribs, 1st Place Chicken, 1st Place Pork, First Place Brisket and 1st Place Tri-Tip! The team finished their rookie season placing 4th Overall Chicken (1st Place among rookie teams) and 12th Overall Brisket in the state of California! The team finished the following year 10th overall in the state and top 10 in all categories (the ONLY team to do so)!
